CLOSURES: PSA-Closures (posted April 28, 2012)
Public Service Announcement – For Immediate Release * RHNMC dental facilities will be closed for Thanksgiving Day (11/22/2012) and the day after (11/23/2012). * RHNMC dental facilities will be closed for the week starting December 24th, 2012 through January 1st, 2013. Normal hours with be carried out prior to that week and following that week. The facilities will re-open on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013.

Over the Years: Grants and funding high-lights On December 19th, 2012 Rural Health Network has been awarded a $ 130,000 grant from the Health Foundation of South Florida to support our Federally Qualified Health Center for Key West and the Lower Florida Keys. The grant is designed to expand primary care in the Lower Florida Keys for a period of one year, helping to support staffing during that initial start-up period.
On November 27th, 2012 The City of Marathon has continued to fund Rural Health Network's Marathon dental operations by providing $ 5,700 for FY 2012-2013. RHNMC would like to thank the City of Marathon for its continued support in helping those within its city limits to receive affordable discounted oral health care for its residents.
On August 1st, 2012 Rural Health Network has arranged with Lower Keys Medical Center to occupy part of the 2nd floor of the dePoo hospital to establish the Lower Keys Community Health Center (LKCHC). Rural Health Network would like to graciously acknowledge this wonderful in-kind contribution to further its mission of providing accessible and affordable health care to residents of Monroe. On June 14th, 2012 Rural Health Network has been awarded a $ 650,000 grant to establish a Federally Qualified Health Center for Key West and the Lower Keys, covering from the 7 mile bridge to and including Key West. The primary care center will employ Dr. Jerome Covington as its Medical Director and attending physician as well as Lin Klingbeil as the Senior Nurse Practitioner. The center will be open Monday - Friday from 10 am - 7 pm. More information will be posted over the next several months. As of May 1, 2012 Rural Health Network has been awarded a three (3) year grant for $ 450,000 from Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide grant specific oral health services throughout Monroe County FL helping economically disadvantaged school children, seniors and the homeless. RHN will have only qualified licensed dentists and hygienists available to do the assessments, sealants and restorative work at the individual schools and/or at one of our three dental facilities. Please contact RHN for further information. As of May 14, 2011 Rural Health Network was awarded a $ 70,000 grant from the Health Foundation of South Florida to help Monroe school children (of low family household income) obtain restorative dental care and access to one of our three dental facilities in Monroe County. We would like to thank the Foundation for their gracious support to the Monroe community. Rural Health Network was awarded a $ 60,000 grant from the Health Foundation of South Florida to secure equipment for our newest project, a third dental facility in the Upper Keys (Tavernier). We at RHN are greatly appreciative of the foundation for their continual on-going support of our network and especially of our oral health care program. As of July 1, 2009
RHNMC has expanded its Marathon facility to three dental operatories and doubled its facility space. We now provide better access to medical care and oral health care. We work with complete digital x-rays and electronic medical records. In Key West we have expanded to five dental operatories, with fully digital x-rays, including panoramic x-rays and electronic medical records. As of May 1, 2009
Rural Health Network was awarded a grant from Health Resources and Services Administration (Health and Human Services) to provide free dental sealants over a three year period to the second and seventh grade school children of Monroe County. We are partnering with the Monroe County School District to provide this free service. Parents are urged to sign the parental permission slips allowing RHNMC to provide the sealants to the children. RHNMC will have only qualified licensed dentists and hygienists available to do the assessments and sealants at the individual schools and/or at one of our three dental facilities. Please contact RHNMC if you need a permission slip. As of May 1, 2009 Rural Health Network was awarded a grant from the Health Foundation of South Florida to provide cancer screenings for breast, cervical and colorectal cancers. We are partnering with Woman Kind, Inc. of Key West to do the screenings. Please contact RHNMC or Woman Kind for details. We would like to thank the Foundation for their gracious support to the Monroe community. As of August 16, 2008 Rural Health Network opened its second dental facility in Key West, located at 1010 Kennedy Drive, Suite 307, Key West, FL.

As of January 6, 2003 Rural Health Network opened its first dental facility in Key West. In October 2005 it was moved to a permanent location in Marathon.
