October Fundraiser

YOU'LL REALLY WANT TO SINK THESE PUTTS

Most golfers don't want their balls to go into the water. But on Sunday October 15 they will...if they want to win the first "Golfing with your Chum" tournament. For one thing, the whole golf course is one big water hazard and the 9 "holes" will be floating in it. For another, the golf balls will be made of chum. Win a hole and you win a prize. Win the tournament and you win a 7 day Carnival cruise for 2 to the Eastern Caribbean. Competitive players can buy extra chum balls to try to better their scores.

The Caribbean Club, MM 104, will host the event, which is a benefit for the dental program of the rural Health Network of Monroe County. "Golfing with your Chum" runs from 10 am to 6 pm and will be followed by an Awards Fish Fry at 7 pm. Dave Feder and other bands will provide music. The entry fee, which includes the fish fry, is $100 a person. Since RHNMC is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, the fee is tax deductible. Golfers are encouraged to organize foursomes. Tee times will be assigned by lottery at Rules Night on Saturday October 14. Those who wish to enter can pick up entry forms at the Caribbean Club, at Rural Health Network' Community Health Center at 2855 Overseas Highway in Marathon, its Medvan in the Upper Keys, or by calling the Rev. Chris Todd, Program Development Director, at 289-8915.
