The Rural Health Network of Monroe County FL is thrilled to announce that its CEO, Amy Halstead, has been selected as a 2025 Inspiring Woman of Health by the Health Foundation of South Florida. This prestigious award recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to community health and well-being in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties.

Halstead's work with the Rural Health Network of Monroe County FL has addressed the unique healthcare challenges faced by Monroe County, ensuring access to quality care for all residents. Specifically, the Health Foundation of South Florida has provided critical funding to a trio of healthcare organizations, including the Rural Health Network of Monroe County FL, to expand access to essential healthcare services for pregnant mothers. This collaborative effort has enabled the Rural Health Network’s Maternal Health program to provide vital prenatal care to women in Monroe County who otherwise would lack these essential services. This has directly improved maternal and infant health outcomes.

The Health Foundation of South Florida's Inspiring Women of Health Award celebrates women leaders who are making a difference in health advocacy, innovation, and change. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the award, and Halstead joins a distinguished group of women who have been recognized for their extraordinary contributions.

The Rural Health Network of Monroe joined other Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) on Capitol Hill this week to advocate for community health. We're incredibly grateful to our Senators and Representatives for their ongoing support of FQHCs and the critical healthcare safety net we provide. We appreciate the strong bipartisan support FQHCs have historically received and look forward to continuing to work together to improve access to care.
